WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SALINE AND GEL IMPLANTS?
Saline implants are filled with a saline (salt water) solution. Patients that have thin skin are not good candidates for this type of implant because of the likelihood of rippling.
There are two types of gel implants available – low bleed gel and cohesive gel. The low bleed gel is a soft gel implant that gives a very, nice, natural result. The cohesive gel implant is a firmer implant. Gel implants work well for all patients.
WHICH IMPLANTS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE – SALINE OR GEL?
The gel implants are more expensive than the saline implants.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE IMPLANT WILL BE APPROPRIATE FOR ME?
We do have sizers in the office that Dr.Rai can show you, and you can try on, during your consultation. This can help you decide on the size you would like. Also bringing in pictures to show Dr.Rai the result you would like is helpful.
HOW LONG DO IMPLANTS LAST? DO I HAVE TO REPLACE THEM EVERY FEW YEARS?
We recommend replacing your implants between 8 – 10 years.
I HAVE HEARD THAT SOME IMPLANTS CAN FORM A CAPSULE AROUND THEM. WILL THIS HAPPEN TO ME?
Not everyone develops capsular contractor, which is scar tissue that forms around the implant. Regular massaging can help prevent this from happening.
HOW SOON AFTER THE CONSULTATION CAN I HAVE SURGERY?
Usually we can get you in for the surgery within 3-4 weeks after a consultation with Dr.Rai.
WHERE DOES THE SURGERY TAKE PLACE?
Dr.Rai operates at False Creek Surgical Centre in Vancouver.
AFTER A BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY, HOW MUCH TIME OFF WORK WILL I NEED?
It does depend on your line of work but in most cases a patient is able to return to work in 5-7 days.
DOES YOUR CLINIC OFFER FINANCING?
We don’t offer financing in our office but we are registered with two companies that offer financing: Medicard iFinance and Credit Medical.
